Build Day at The Stoneyard, Rochdale
Wednesday, 17 June 2009
Paul and myself had a great day up at 'The Stoneyard' over the weekend. This is our local freeride spot that over a 100 years ago was some kind of farm that was built into the hillside on terraces using stone from the local quarries. As a result it is a perfect setup for building the kind of stunts that we love to ride...all you need is a bit of imagination and the potential is endless...
We spent the day digging out a run in to the 16ft gapper that neither of us have done yet. A couple of guys have done it but it looked very sketchy as the landing transition was too short for the size of the jump. We also spent a bit of time working on the kicker which is looking pretty sweet now and Paul went up there yesterday and rebuilt the landing so I guess it should be good to go very soon.
We also decided to move back the take off for the other gap jump and give it a little more kick. I guess the gap on this one is about 10ft now with a nice step down landing. Once we had built this that was the building over for the day as it just felt so good to ride. That and the kicker that it flows into just worked so well. See pic above.
Here's some footage from the day...
